Communication and Beauty Services

You may not think that communication is a critical factor when you’re ordering beauty services to be done. After all, when you go to get your nails done or have a new hairdo, you don’t have to worry about your communication strategies with your beauty technician. However, communication is critical in getting the services provided to you that you enjoy. Here are some things to remember when you go to have your next session done.

First, remember that it’s your responsibility as a client to inform the technician of any concerns that you have. You can’t expect your beauty service provider to read your mind. Tell them how you feel about their service – if you were unhappy with your last hair service or you want your nails to be shaped in a certain way, let them know. That way, they can make adjustments according to what will make you, as their client, happy.

Secondly, if you have any allergies or sensitivities to certain chemicals, make sure to let them know before you start your beauty session. For instance, many people are asthmatic and might be prone to suffering an attack by being around certain substances. Letting the provider know this in advance will save you discomfort and embarrassment in the event that you have an issue.

Next, if you have any certain expectations, always let your provider know. For instance, if you expect a particular service to take a certain amount of time, let them know if you have any time constraints at that particular moment. Just because your friend had something done that took one hour doesn’t necessarily mean that it will take you the same amount of time. This is just one expectation that can easily be taken care of by having a conversation.

It’s important to remember to treat your service provider with respect. Sometimes we might be having a bad day and want to take it out on the person who is trying to help us. Make sure that you are courteous at all times, and you will likely receive the same in return.

Many people wonder about tipping when it comes to beauty services. A good rule of thumb is usually 20% for the person who performed the service. If something took a lot longer or had a wonderful result, you might want to throw a little extra on top. Sometimes, the person may have had an assistant helping them so you may want to consider giving them a tip as well. If you are having a higher end service done, the tip will likely be expected to be higher as well. Make sure to tip in cash as that will be greatly appreciated by your technician.

We at Thread and Sugar always remind our clients to call in beforehand for appointments and bookings to discuss any issues, expectations and any concerns regarding the services that will be provided. This is done to ensure that only the highest quality of service will be provided for all the clients who are coming in the salon. A Happy Client is Equivalent to a Happy Salon:)
